Exploring Warsaw in terms of good local eateries can be very overwhelming, especially when you only staying for a couple of days. There are so many delicious places. in our opinion, the best thing you can do is asking the locals! During our stay in Warsaw we asked our AirBnB Hosts for advice. They have send us to some special places, that have been packed with mouthwatering dishes. The following restaurants have given us a very good impression of what polish food is about.

Here Are our 4 amazing Restaurants

1. Bar Zabkowski  ul. Ząbkowska 2, Warsaw

What is the Restaurant about?

Bar Zabkowski is a traditional bar mleczny, which is also called a Milkbar. These canteen style restaurants were established during the times of Communism, and their mission was to provide cheap meals for the people.

Why you should visit

If you are searching for a authentic bar mleczny, that serves homemade style food just like back in the days, then Bar Zabkowski is the real deal.

Bar Zabkowski serves traditional polish dishes, affordable for everybody. In addition to that you get some really good local craft beers.

2. Pierogarnia, Minska 4/6, Warsaw

While strolling around the “Soho Factory” on Minska Street, we couldn’t find any Restaurant that really caught our attention. I mean, there were some posher places on the fancy side but we were longing for the good old street food! As we were almost starving, the “Pierogarnia” suddenly appeared in front of our eyes, like an Oasis in the desert.

What is the Restaurant about?

It’s all about Dumplings!! Marzena told us, that she and Grzegorz have collected the original recipes from their grandparents to deliver this authentic flavor. This is a must visit place! A reason to come to Minska Street !

Why you should visit

Because it is damn delicious and you can get a taste of traditional Pierogis made from scratch. The recipes are family treasures and have been given from one generation to the next.

Our Tip

Try the Mixed Pierogi Plate. This will give you the chance tasting the whole diversity of this yummy culinary invention from Poland. Marzena suggested to have “Kwas Chlebowy”, a drink made from rye bread. I know, sounds weird, but it’s super yummy.

3. Bar Absurdu– Ząbkowska 6, Warsaw

What is this Bar about

This Bar has it all! A cozy welcoming atmosphere combined with amazing local food! And not to forget: Polish Beers from tap and Cocktails! The perfect place to not only eat but hang out for an entire afternoon.

Here you can dip your rye bread into some really good Bigos while listening to 1920s swing tunes.

why you should visit

The staff is great and the food is affordable and really honest! The furniture and the wall design match perfectly with the groovy ambience. Plus this place has an international flare and lots of English speaking guests. Barkeeper Patrick was incredibly helpful and explained us the menu. But be aware! Patrick refuses to serve small Beers. Only big ones. Very nice and funny guy! It’s worth coming only to meet him!

4. Restaurant Zapiecek

Eating at Zapiecek makes you feel you have just landed in your grandmas house for lunch. Here you get old traditional cuisine served in polish pottery, served by a waitress in a traditional polish costume. Awesome! Zapiecek are specialized in Pierogis and this is what you should really give a try.
